94.7 Highveld Stereo - The Fugitive The Fugitive with Gold Reef City on 94.7 ran for 6 weeks, ending in June 2004. It was an interactive radio first for South Africa. Listeners were given the challenge of tracking down a mystery Fugitive on the streets of Joburg. The Fugitive himself gave out clues live on air on 94.7, and the first listener to find him won R1000 for every hour the Fugitive was at large. Apart from the compelling concept behind this promotion, one of the key success factors is the way it was leveraged to generate footfall to Gold Reef City. The primary method for doing this was the establishment of an FBI (Fugitive Bureau of Investigation) at Gold Reef City Casino, where Joburgers could get an update on the latest clues, but more importantly tip off the FBI about the Fugitive's current location, for another chance to win. Overall,
the elements of the campaign included several components designed
to achieve the objectives of both 94.7 and Gold Reef City casino including
the Fugitive Headquarters at highveld.co.za, the exclusive Fugitive
parties at Gold Reef City casino, and a dedicated team tasked with
leveraging opportunities at the drop of a hat. The response on 94.7
and at Gold Reef City was phenomenal. With over 600 000 page impressions
on the Fugitive section of 94.7's web site alone, thousands of calls
and emails sent to the Fugitive, and increased footfall of 25 000
people onto the Gold Reef City complex, the campaign was voted a resounding ![]() |
