567 CAPETALK CHARITY DIG

On Thursday the 16th of December, Muizenberg Main Beach became the arena for a CapeTalk treasure hunt with heart.

The CapeTalk Charity Dig in association with GrandWest Corporate Social Investment saw thousands of people flocking to Muizenberg Beach for a day of entertainment in true CapeTalk style. From the CapeTalk minstrels, sand castle displays and beach volleyball to dancing and performances by Alvon Collison, fun was definitely had by all.

With CapeTalk Presenters as well as Cape Town personality Soli Philander as the hosts throughout the day, the main attraction was the rare opportunity 700 people received when they purchased a ticket for R100 to dig for treasure under the white sands of Muizenberg Beach.

Each participant had the chance to dig for one hour simultaneously, and it was finders-keepers. Buried beneath the sand were the keys to a brand new Smart Car to the value of R132 000 as well as other amazing gifts.

Spectators and participants weren't the only one's to have a fantastic day. Two charities benefited from the ticket sales relating to the event, namely the Open Door Project, a community driven child protection programme in the Noordhoek Valley area, and the Siphosethu Feeding Programme, a feeding scheme committed to enhancing the nutritional intake of children in the same area.

Finally, after much suspense, finalist Sharon Erwin of Bergvliet managed to select the winning CD, which was played to the entire beach as well as live on-air, confirming her wonderful prize.
