CHRISTMAS
WISH LIST 2004

This year's Christmas Wish List on 94.7 saw Jeremy Mansfield and the RAW team grant over thirty-five wishes in 2 ½ weeks. It ended on a high on Friday 10 December with an outside broadcast at Primedia Broadcasting's offices where the last 2 wishes were granted.

Janine Dicks has leukaemia and cannot afford the treatment needed to get better. Absa's Nick Cairns offered to sponsor all treatment. Janine was overcome with emotion. "I can't believe it", she said dazedly, echoing what so many Wish recipients have felt.

Maureen Lacock's son Sheldon recently passed away after a heroin overdose. Her dream is to make a documentary about her son's fatal addiction to help other children avoid drugs. Unfortunately she has cataracts and does not have the funds to produce the documentary.

Helen Stockton from Optiklin Eye Hospital together with an anonymous ophthalmologist sponsored all services and costs to help Maureen to regain her sight. Endemol agreed to produce the video and the South African Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependency agreed to help Maureen under their banner. Andrew Dunn of Super Group offered to cover Maureen's travel and running expenses.

94.7s station manager, Ravi Naidoo says, "Christmas is a time for giving and hopefully we have encouraged this. The Christmas Wish List and the responses it evokes shows that Joburg people have big hearts. 94.7 Highveld Stereo has once again proven that it is Joburg's All Heart Radio"
